Frequently Asked Questions

We are regularly asked a number of questions by potential clients.  Please find following a list of the most common questions and answers.  Please don't hesitate to contact Lauren if you wish to discuss your queries over the phone.

  • Do you offer a free consultation?
    • At your request, yes I offer a free ½ hour consultation where we can discuss your desired change in a safe and confidential environment. You are not obligated to come back and see me after this consultation. This time can be seen as a “getting to know you”, after which I will design the best treatment plan to suit your individual needs.
  • What are the benefits of hypnotherapy?

There are many natural positive side-effects and benefits of hypnotherapy that you’re likely to enjoy, here are some of the main ones.

    • Often lowers blood pressure
    • Assists to dissolve stress
    • 40 minutes of hypnosis is the equivalent of 3 hours of sleep in terms of the effect it has on your body.
    • Safe, effective, rapid
    • Completely natural and non invasive
  • How does Hypnosis work?
    • The hypnotherapist induces what can feel like a deeply relaxing and natural state known as ‘trance’. This is done in order to pass through the conscious minds limiting beliefs and barriers that are preventing change to occur. Using a web of techniques and metaphor, the unconscious mind is then directed toward the reprogramming of the unconscious patterning and limiting belief systems. Finally, the Hypnotherapist puts to work the clients own unconscious resources, creating sustainable, lasting, healthy change.
It’s important to note that trance is a relaxing state of responsiveness and hyper-suggestibility, but that it is not “sleep” or “unconsciousness”, the client maintains a level of awareness the whole time.
  • Is it safe?
    • Absolutely. Hypnotherapy is very gentle and clients are in control and conscious at all times. There are no known records of anyone being harmed as a direct result of hypnotherapy. It is impossible to “get stuck” in a state of hypnosis due to the natural cycles and rhythms of the body and mind.
  • What should I expect to experience?
    • I always describe the sensation to my clients as being just like when you’ve only just awakened in the morning and your eyes are still closed... you feel warm and so very comfortable... so much so that you simply can’t be bothered opening your eyes... you are aware of the sounds and presence of things around you... and you could get up if you needed to, but for now... you choose to just... be.
  • How many sessions will I need?
    • The amount of sessions varies between clients, everyone is individual. The best thing to do is make a list of all the things you’d like to work on, give me a call, and we can discuss a treatment plan that's right for you.
  • How much does it cost?
    • 1 session= $120, 3 sessions= $300, 5 sessions= $475.
    • Meditation sessions are ‘one on one’ and are 45 minutes duration. They can be purchased as a 6 session package for $280 or $60 per single session.

  • I heard not all people can be hypnotised. Is that true?
    • Yes and no, as mentioned below there are some medications and mental disorders that make voluntary trance very difficult or impossible but for the average person, the trance state is a completely natural state that one drifts in and out of many times throughout the day. Any person who is willing and able to follow the hypnotherapist simple instructions, will find themselves drifting into hypnosis with ever increasing ease.
  • Are there any categories of people that you can’t work with?

o   Yes. For legal and ethical reasons, I do not work with people who are on certain mind altering medications or drugs, prescription or otherwise, or those medically diagnosed as having serious mental dysfunction such as psychosis and the like. I also choose not to work with children under the age of 8, or within the arena of sexual dysfunction.
If you are unsure about whether we will be able to work together, give me a call and we can discuss your situation and determine the appropriateness of Hypnotherapy for you.

  • Is Hypnotherapy covered by Medicare?
    • Unfortunately not at this time.
  • Is Hypnotherapy covered by health insurance?
